THE TOWN OF MARATHONS

The story of the town of marathons started more than 100 years ago; to be more precise, in 1910. This is when the first Šilo-Crikvenica marathon took place, which is today regarded as the oldest swimming marathon in the Adriatic. This event traditionally takes place every year on 15 August, during the high season, when the song of crickets can be heard from the treetops all around.

Autumn in Crikvenica is very active too, because this is the time of the Adria Advent Marathon, a running event on the first Sunday in Advent. Spring is the ideal time for cycling enthusiasts, as May is the time of the Crikvenica Cycling Marathon.
Who knows, maybe in the future there will also be a marathon in the wintertime?
