THALASSOTHERAPIA CRIKVENICA

The Thalassotherapia Crikvenica is a medical centre with a long tradition of using thalassotherapy in healthcare, prevention, medical holidays and rehabilitation. Thanks to its location right on the coast next to a pebbly beach and a 6 km-long promenade, amidst a verdant Mediterranean park, the Thalassotherapia is ideal for thalassotherapy treatments, convalescence and rest. As early as a hundred years ago, Crikvenica was recognised by the first European visitors as the perfect place to relax and convalesce due to its extraordinarily favourable climate, mild winters and moderately warm summers, favourable air currents, unique mixture of sea and mountain air, abundance of sea aerosol in the air, and extraordinarily clean, shallow sea. At that time, on the location of the present Thalassotherapia Crikvenica, there was a sanatorium for children from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Today's Thalassotherapia is a modern medical institute that combines the principles of thalassotherapy with the latest achievements in modern medicine, which yields exceptional results in treating diseases of the musculoskeletal and respiratory systems in children, adults and senior citizens.

The institute includes an air-conditioned hotel restaurant, an indoor therapeutic pool with warm seawater (32 °C) and underwater massage, a conference room for up to 100 people with multimedia equipment and air-conditioning, a café, and a basketball and volleyball court. In the immediate vicinity of the Thalassotherapia Crikvenica, there are several restaurants and numerous recreational facilities (tennis, five-a-side football, minigolf, water sports).

Today, Thalassotherapia Crikvenica has three medical departments: Department for inpatient care – physical medicine and rehabilitation, Department for children respiratory rehabilitation, and Specialist-consultant department (including outpatient clinics for physical medicine, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, pulmonology, paediatrics, dermatovenerology, and Diagnostics Department, Inhalation Department and Physical Therapy Department).

The Thalassotherapia Crikvenica includes a department for hyperbaric medicine, which is under the expert supervision of the OXY Policlinic for baromedicine and occupational medicine in Pula.
