Dynamic „Ad turres days“ in Crikvenica
This weekend in Crikvenica will again be the stop of the big time machine!
After it took usat the end of June in the Middle Ages, on July 19th and 20th it will take us as many as 2,000 years back. We'll be back in ancient history and visit the colorful world of the Romans in Ad Turres days in Crikvenica, the cultural and entertainment event, which is based on our valuable archaeological heritage.
Why Ad Turres? Archaeological excavations at the site "Igralište" next to the football stadium in Crikvenica confirmed that Ad Turres was the name of ancient Crrikvenica and that the historical development of the city has lasted for more than 2,000 years. In addition, the discovered local pottery workshop for producind amphorae belonging to Sextus Metilio Maxim was unique and one of the best preserved on the Croatian territory. Among the many findings we should point out the unique Roman amphora, which according to the site, which was discovered is called Crikvenica and its official name is the Adriatic amphorae flat bottom type Crikvenica.
The program will be held at three locations, and on Saturday, July 19th, in the center of Crikvenica, in Stjepan Radic Square, in Preradoviceva street next to the Museum of the City of Crikvenica and Sunday, July 20th, at the archaeological site "Igralište", where the antique stove will be burned and ceramix items will be made.
Also there will be a competition in archery, playing of ancient football, presentation of antique gastronomy, a Roman legionary camp and school.
