58th Fisherman's week opening - Goran Karan
The importance of Crikvenica's fishing industry is highlighted by the fact that, in the 1950s, local fishermen contributed an impressive 30% of the entire Adriatic catch. Today, this rich tradition is kept alive not only through memories and records but also through a special event that has been celebrated in Crikvenica for over half a century: Fishermen’s Week, which seamlessly blends a love for the sea, tradition, and modernity.
Since 1966, this event has played a vital role in preserving cultural and historical heritage for generations. Originally known as Crikvenica’s Fishermen’s Nights, it was created to provide entertainment for guests during the post-tourist season. Over time, the program has expanded, featuring a variety of events, most of which revolve around a shared connection to the sea. Today, many visitors plan their vacations specifically to coincide with this cherished celebration.
